Courtyard House

As the name suggests the courtyard house is held together by a central light court. The house occupies a typical 40 X 60 ft residential plot in Aurangabad. The clients wanted a simple and practical house for their retirement.

 

Given that the living-dining space is where the couple spend most of their day time hours, this is the most lively space of the house, wrapping around the light - court. The court not only brings in natural light into the centre of the house, it also acts as an element to draw out the hot air up keeping the house significantly cooler during the summer months.
